The Attainable Peace
There is a peace that is attainable for all those who wish to receive, that remains constant when everything seems to be out of control. I call it the "attainable peace" because it came to me in a dream after contemplating what it felt like not to worry about things. In that contemplation I caught a glimpse of who God created us to be - "in his image" were the words that stood out to me. I share this with you in the hope that you will be able to remember what has been placed on your heart by our creator.
My belief is that we were created by God and because I have that belief I realise that there is a greater plan. This belief constantly finds confirmation to assure me that I am only part of this greater plan. This in turn reminds me to not get to carried away with my own thoughts and it reminds me that the world consist of others and what I might feel is important may not be that important to the overall plan. Whenever I think from this standpoint I am instantly humbled and I'm able to release my will for the will of the greater plan which I may or may not understand.
Sometimes when we worry about things like not having enough money or not being accepted or appreciated, we instantly receive thoughts that remind us that we shouldn't worry about those things. However we don't listen and we allow thoughts of losing something or someone to haunt us. We take those thoughts down the route of "let's see how bad this can really get" and there we paint the picture of our worst case scenario, the place where life as we know it ends. In actual fact we are at that moment surrendering our peace and allowing it to fly away along with the thing we believe we will not have any more or the situation that we feel we've lost control of. In some cases we actually predict the loss of peace long before a situation has occurred. I can remember when I loss my daughter Maya I was instantly filled with so much more fear. Day and night I painted scenario's in which I would lose my other daughters. I thought I was saving myself the trouble of being surprised later on, you can imagine the hell I must have been living in. For peace I had to surrender the need to understand it all. Some of you may not have gone that far but you may be able to relate to painting a picture of a worse case scenario in maybe your finances or your relationships.
You see the attainable peace is rooted in the understanding that all things work together for our good. Think back to a situation that occurred in your life a few years ago that at the time seemed really bad, maybe something you didn't think you could recover from. Well if you are reading this then you will know you made it through, yet at the time of these life changing events we see only doom. The attainable peace is getting to a place where by we can accept that everything is ok even when it doesn't feel like it. This peace assures us to take another look at our situation and realise that all things pass away, even the bad times. Every season gracefully gives way to the next knowing that it is only a part of a greater plan.
When Jesus told to us not to worry, he shared with us that there is no value in worrying therefore keep your peace for our father has considered us. I find that is so comforting. Instead let us think of the best outcome of our situations.
No matter what our circumstance is at this current time, if we can think of the best thing that can happen and just submit a prayer of faith that we know all things work together for our good and allow God to have his way, not only will we experience extraordinary peace in our lives but we will become confident as we are shown by God that we really have been included in this greater plan.
I don't know what the situation is:
Maybe you are struggling to find purpose in your life
Maybe your business has just failed
Maybe you are just starting a business but have many failed businesses behind you
Maybe you are going through a painful divorce
Maybe you are on the verge on a divorce
Maybe your children are acting up
Maybe your career has come to an end and your don't know what comes next
Maybe you are high up to your neck in debt
Whatever it is reflect for a moment on these words
Philippians 4: 6, 7
Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
This is the peace that can be attained by us all.
