What makes you different?

Do you know what makes you different?

The amount of people who have passed through this world and have made their mark is innumerable. If we look around, each age or generation has produced individuals that have had such an impact on the human race that it has shaped the world we now live in. No matter how great these individuals were, this world is not looking for carbon copies of great originals.

If you can imagine with me for a moment people like, Mahatma Ghandi, Martin Luther King, Mother Teresa, Einstein, Michael Jackson, Shakespeare, Oprah Winfrey, these individuals have had an impact on this world in a huge way. Besides them making such great contributions to their generation and beyond, they display qualities that have made them stand out and no matter how wonderful they were or are we wouldn't want to see two of any one of them. Can you imagine a carbon copy of any of those great people I've mentioned? What would we think or what would we say if we saw a carbon copy of a great original? Without even thinking, we would look to see what the difference was to the original person.

Have you thought about what makes you different?

What makes some of the people that I mentioned earlier great? The overwhelming thing I believe they all had in common was that they had to be who they were or not at all. Some may have faced great challenges but despite those challenges they never compromised who they were. We live in a time never before seen where people are searching for more meaning in their life. In most circles you can hear people discussing the need to find their purpose. Although all too often, many are confused by what has made someone different. All too often we run after successful people without grasping what has made that individual successful.

Those people that we look up to and admire for their contribution in this world would be the first to tell you "that you count". Many of them have spent their life trying to help mankind see how we are the same but different and how there is greatness in all of us. Whether you are someone who follows the pack or maybe you follow success methods that have been proven before, whatever it may be, I encourage you to take your individuality with you. That is what makes the difference. That is what leaves the mark. No one wants a carbon copy of a great original.
